In France, Jorge worked with high ranked and prestigious chefs, learning many exciting styles in the world of gourmet food. Having tackled business as an entrepreneur, Jorge is ready to introduce Los Angeles and the world to his exciting new vision for fusion dining.
Born to immigrant parents in Caracas, Venezuela, Jorge developed a passion for cooking, starting his culinary studies at the early age of 19 in the most prestigious school in Caracas, CEGA. Majoring in Venezuelan cuisine, he followed his passion for food pursuing further education in France, the Mecca of world cuisine.
In 2001 he decided to attend the Hoteriliere Ecole de Toulouse where he had the opportunity to work with Chef Pierre Spulchre, whose credits include a number of Michelin stars at L'art de Vivre. During his time at this outstanding restaurant in Tournafoille, France, Jorge learned and polished the techniques of classic French cuisine.
While in France, Jorge worked as an intern in various restaurants offering a variety of French regional cuisine, giving him an extensive and diversified view of gourmet food. After three years in France, he returned to his native Venezuela with the goal of being a business owner. At this time, his father, recognizing his entrepreneurial ability, handed over the family business.
In this capacity, Jorge learned how to manage a factory and take it to full growth potential and expansion. In dedicating himself to the task, he developed the business to the point of being a source of direct employment for more than 50 people in addition to providing many community opportunities. This new experience in business, management, finance and personnel management changed his worldview to one of enterprising opportunity. While he discovered a growing his love for business, his passion for food never wavered.
Inspired by an interview on CNN, he took note of the "food truck revolution" movement that was developing in Los Angeles. He realized that his expertise in French and international cuisine and his passion for business equipped him to offer something new and exciting to the Los Angeles culinary community. A confessed lover of hamburgers, he proposed to create a new experience, full of flavor, sure to captivate any audience by offering burgers with a gourmet touch.
His circumstances have brought him to the US, starting a new life with his wife Irene and his son Manuel, integrating with a culture unknown to them, facing all the uncertainties of a new immigrant. Never abandoning his dreams as a business owner and food nut, his lifelong ideas of a new way to make burgers has found new life in the food truck community. This dream has led him to meeting Chef Roy Riera, who shares the same passion for cooking and haute cuisine.
Their united efforts have brought something new to Los Angles, a burgers revolution - Twist Burgers!
