Andrew and Alex have collectively served over a dozen years in the restaurant industry, always driven by passions for great food and fantastic service.
Looking for ways to become better at their trade, the boys came up with the idea to start their own business, and after months of conceptualizing, experimenting, and planning, Shortstop BBQ opened its doors as a catering company in February 2010.

OUR STORY
Shortstop BBQ is the tangible realization of a passion and dream that we were born with. We grew up with stories about our great grandfather, Doug Harrison, who fulfilled a life’s dream when he opened “Doug’s Hickory Pit Barbeque” in Amarillo, Texas, in the 1950s.
In that old and rustic building, complete with sawdust on the floors, it was all about the food. Not just any food! Southern barbeque was all about taking inexpensive cuts of meat, cooking them with a lot of care, time and attention and putting out a great tasting product affordable to anyone. Although we never had the privilege of knowing him or talking to him about his trade, his influence on us has been great.
Shortstop BBQ is all about taking the best of what has been, and fusing it with newer and more regional ingredients and techniques. This is why we strive hard to provide great tasting food utilizing fresh, natural, and locally produced ingredients, cooked with the care and attention our great grandfather used in his restaurant.
We believe in real food for real people, and that is our promise to you.
