Boy, food trucks are everywhere these days. But after awhile, you start seeing some of the same things. I mean, how many ways can you make a Korean taco?
That's why it was an absolute pleasure to stumble upon the Vizzi Truck.

The name Vizzi is interesting and so is their cuisine. They call it Coastal Inspired Cuisine - heck if I know what that means, except that it tastes good. I looked on their website (http://vizzitruck.com/about/) to see what they meant by the phrase. In short, it's French cooking techniques mixed with California to Oregon to Phillipines coast style all mixed together with fresh ingredients. The result is cuisine that carries an elegance and quality that is a step above even the best gourmet trucks out there.
The truck itself is pretty high tech. It has these flat screens showcasing featured artists' work or for displaying the game or pictures/descriptions of their food. Nice for when you're waiting in line. And we all know how long the lines can get these days.
The food is presented in these handsome cardboard containers. Mrs. FoodTrucker appreciates things like that and remarked how they were convenient and sturdy. In her Japanese accent, "Convenient AND sturdy. And not foam. They don't fall apart while you are eating." Don't get her started on the containers. These alone, she said, would add 5 points to her final score.
So here's what we tried.

The lavosh chicken piadina containing Jidori chicken, Heirloom tomata salsa, creme fraiche/chimichurri sauce, brie, and queso fresco.
It was tasty. And although it made the whole thing 'leak' water, I especially liked the queso fresco because it added a fresh flavor without being overpowering. The chicken was chopped in small pieces and was tender with a faint sweetness. The lavosh was fresh and soft.

The braised wagyu beef sliders (maple-basalmic bbq beef, creme fraiche/chimichurri sauce, and cilantro/scallions) were my favorite. One bite into these babies and I instantly tried to hide my container so I wouldn't have to share. Mrs. FoodTrucker saw right through that. The shredded beef melted in my mouth - it was sweet and tender and the sauce added just the right creaminess. After Mrs. FoodTrucker took a bite, I heard her say, "That sh*t is the bomb!" This is a compliment of the highest order because she hardly ever says it.

Next, we tried the black skillet jidori chicken sliders (cool cheyenne/chimichurri creme fraiche sauce and cilantro/scallion). These came with a whole chicken piece in each slider. I think my teeth aren't sharp enough because I kept taking the whole chunk of chicken in one bite and having to do that pull/tear motion to wrestle off a bite-sized piece. That said, it was still pretty tasty. And since I'm not a huge fan of dark meat chicken (I know I'm weird that way), I asked my friends who were with me and also other patrons that were eating the same entree whether they liked it. The consensus was that it was delicious. One group of people even said that it was their favorite and they always order it. The bread for all the sliders was spongy and fresh.
All of the entrees we tried came in their cool Mrs. FoodTrucker-approved containers resting on a bed of popcorn with little chunks of figs. I think the popcorn even had a hint of truffle oil. And Mrs. FoodTrucker thinks I never take her anywhere sophisticated.

We also got a sample of some lemon thyme cookies. These were tangy and slightly crispy. I couldn't place the flavors but it was kind of lemony shortbread-y and delicious. These cookies warrant further investigation of any of their desserts.
Besides the food and the truck, I have to mention that Chad took the time to come out of the truck and deliver each order. On top of that, I saw Chad venturing out again to ask each patron how their food was. Really excellent service.

So when I want to take Mrs. FoodTrucker out for an elegantly delicious meal, I'm heading for Vizzi.
Note: They've added tacos to their menu and I heard that they are awesome.
